Australian Based Small Business SIP Phones

Setting up a phone system for a small business (or if you simply want to be able to have an Australian landline number while you're travelling overseas.

  1. Go to crazytel.com.au and sign up for a VoIP Home Phone Plan (Pick the PAYG plan where you pay zero per month).
  2. Get the $2.00 of free credit and buy a DID number (this will cost you $1.00 per month).
  3. Configure a SIP trunk with your mobile.
  4. Add the Cloud Softphone app (I've only done this with Android).
  5. Make sure this bit works before proceeding.
  6. Create the Voicemail under Number Management and configure it to send voicemail to your email address.
  7. Create a Time Switch under Number Management
  8. Create a Ring Group under Trunk Features
  9. If required, add a new number under Verified Caller ID

What happens?
The public rings your DID number, this then forwards the call to your Time Switch.

The Time Switch evaluates what needs to happen and then either forwards the call to your Ring Group or forwards it to voicemail.

If it's voicemail, it then records the voicemail and then sends you an email with the attachment.

If it's the Ring Group, then all numbers in the Ring Group are called at the same time. First person to answer the call has the call, just like the old school home phone.
